Section 1. The Standing Committees shall be created to support the elected officers, Executive Director, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors in carrying out their various functions aimed towards the attainment of the organization’s vision and purpose.
Section 2. Each Standing Committee shall be led by a Chairperson appointed by the President from the ranks of the Board of Directors members-at-large with the consent of the Board of Directors.
Section 3. The Board of Directors may increase or decrease the number of Standing Committees. Currently, there are eight (8) Standing Committees.
A. Membership Committee. This committee shall lead the organization’s efforts to recruit and retain members. It is responsible for designing and implementing programs that will attract new members and will make them feel good about their affiliation with the organization. The Membership Committee shall organize and coordinate activities that will get and keep members engaged in the organization.
B. Finance Committee. This committee shall oversee the organization’s finances and compliance requirements with local, state, and federal laws. It is responsible for designing and implementing the organization’s accounting system and internal control procedures, conducting an annual audit of the financial records and annual review of operations, and drafting and implementing the organization’s annual operating budget.
C. Fund Raising Committee. This committee shall lead the organization’s efforts to raise funds for its annual operating budget. It is responsible for designing and implementing fund raising campaigns, including applying for grants.
D. Entrepreneurship Committee. This committee shall lead the organization’s efforts in promoting entrepreneurship, educating the Filipino American community about entrepreneurship, and providing business mentoring and consulting. It shall also offer job training and career counseling assistance. The Entrepreneurship Committee shall also partner with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest, Filipino Community Alliance, Small Business Administration, employment offices of local colleges and universities, and other similar groups and agencies.
E. Disaster Response Committee. This committee shall be the relief arm of the organization. It is responsible for raising awareness, funds, and material donations for calamities in the U.S. and abroad.
F. Cultural Programs Committee. This committee shall lead the organization’s efforts to help promote the Filipino American heritage and culture. It is responsible for organizing and coordinating events, programs, and projects that are designed to celebrate the Filipino American heritage and culture, in general, and the Cagayan Valley heritage and culture, in particular. The Cultural Programs Committee shall also partner with the Asia Pacific Cultural Center, Filipino Community Alliance, Philippine National Historical Society, Philippine Department of Tourism, and other historical/cultural groups and agencies.
G. Social Programs Committee. This committee shall lead the organization’s efforts to help provide needed services for Filipino Americans and other communities. It is responsible for providing assistance on health services, social services, naturalization classes, support for newly arrived immigrants, youth, students, seniors, and the like. Where similar programs exists, the Social Programs Committee may elect to partner with other community groups already providing the same.
H. Special Events Committee. This committee shall assist the Executive Director, Cultural Programs Committee, Membership Committee, and Fund Raising Committee in carrying out the organization’s membership drives, fund raising activities, and major events that include the biennial gala, Christmas party, summer picnic, Filipino American History Month, and Fil-Am Cultural Heritage Festival.
